Welcome to Kamuela, Hawaii.
Since each U.S. state cannot have more than one locality of the same name, the official USPS name for Waimea is Kamuela, since there are many 'Waimeas' on the islands of Hawaii.

Waimea is the largest town in the interior of the Big Island, and is the center for ranching activities and paniolo culture. Parker Ranch in and around Waimea is the largest privately-owned cattle ranch in the US, and the annual Fourth of July rodeo is a major event.
Waimea is also home to the headquarters of two astronomical observatories located on Mauna Kea, the Keck Observatory and the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 100.5 km˛ (38.8 mi˛). 100.4 km˛ (38.8 mi˛) of it is land and 0.2 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it (0.15%) is water.

Alpine Air, which was subcontracted to deliver U.S. mail to several of the neighbor islands, said it will lose 18 percent of the company's gross revenue after its contract was not renewed.
